Best in its field,
Having just drilled through a lead water pipe (what a disaster) I thought it was time I bought another one of these; I lost my old one.
I paid £30 for an alternative which was useless. These instruments cannot give absolute precision because of items very close which just MAY interfere but this does come pretty close to the precision needed for DIY. At the time of my comments this is around £10 on Amazon and is a bargain. They are £15 to £19 in ‘the sheds’.
The detailed instructions are part of the packaging so do not throw the packaging away. My next recommendation is to read the instructions carefully and accurately because believe me it works if you do. It is ‘setting 1′ as I recall to finds your pipes and cables and it would have found my lead one exactly ( I have checked since the flood). It also finds cables accurately. The other setting simply tells you whether an electrical item is live; it does not trace live cables in the wall. In short if it does not work, you are using it wrong. I have subsequently located another pipe that I did not know existed thereby avoiding my next disaster.

|Works ok for me,
The one I have works fine, compared to others I have used, particularly for finding live cables.
Simple and easy to operate.

|No instructions,
The intensity wheel on the dufriggy turns up or decreases the sensitivity (I think).
My problem is that the instructions on mine are non-existent.
There is a two position switch which is, presumably, for pipes and wires, without any info as to which is which. Mine worked for two minutes and then went haywire, making noises where there was no possibility of wires or pipes.
I wish I’d not bothered with this one.
